Possible chronic urticaria solution.
I've suffered with urticaria for going on 12 years and no doctor has been able to tell me what's causing it. I've seen numerous allergest and had all the test which came back negative on everything. Finally, I went to be tested for latex allergies since I work in a lab and am exposed to latex eventhough I don't use them. Well, the test came back negative. BUT, at the time of the appointment, my doctor advised me stop eating bananas since they have the same protein as latex in them and sufferers of latex allergies often can't eat bananas. Well, I was not allergic to latex, but low and behold, by stopping the bananas I saw a major decline in my hives. However, I was still having erruptions. So, upon researching food allergies, I discovered that there are several fruit proteins that can lead to allergies and be expressed in the skin as "urticaria". My doctor's office could not locate a fruit protein allergy screen test, but suggested that I do an ellimination diet. Finally to date my urticaria is caused by bananas, tomatoes, and bell peppers. These are the food items I was eating almost every day. I recommend trying to eliminate foods that you frequently eat to see if you find something that appears to be related to the out breaks. I went down to foods I rarely ate and added items I wanted to test. So, for three days I ate spinach salads with carrots and onions. I had no hives during this time. Then I added one new item to the salad that I wanted to test. When I added tomatoes, 5 hours later I had hives. When I added bell peppers, the same thing. I'm doing SO much BETTER now and it's been sustained for the past 6 months. I've had some hives periodically because it's very hard to avoid tomatoes and bell peppers. There in everything.
Best of luck to everybody.
