This is my first post in this forum, so firstly I want to introduce myself and say hello to everyone :) Hopefully someone can help me out with a serious issue i have.
Background:
Male, late 20's, 6 foot tall, healthy and active. A few years ago i was taking a proton pump inhibitor to reduce stomach acid. Apperently low stomach acid and the use of proton pump inhibitors is correlated with food allergies and during that time i developed a few food allergies... specifically to magnesium sterate, omega 3, and protein powder, which i was taking a lot of. According to a skin test from an allergist I also have environmental allergies to: tress, pollen, grasses, ragweed, weeds, dustmites, cat, dog
The food allergies are the serious thing as it handicaps my life as almost every single supplement or drug contains magnesium sterate and it limits what i can take. The few drugs i take i have to have them specially made from a compounding pharmacy which costs a lot of money! i also cannot take any multi vitamins or general supplements for health.
Omega 3 is essential, and so is a protein supplement for me as i am active.
I have tried all different types of protein powders: Rice, egg, and now certified organic hemp, and everyone gave me a reaction.
I also tried flax seed derived omega 3 and that even gave me a reaction.
The reaction manifests with blood shot eyes and a terrible migraine that usually lasts a few days. I get an allergic conjunctivitis type of reaction and i can't even look at bright light, and am basically bed ridden with an incapacitating headache. I actually suffered for a year with almost daily headaches until i realized it was a food allergy (or intolerance) to magnesium sterate. The environmental allergies just give me a stuffy nose and red eyes but it's tolerable and doesn't effect my quality of life dramatically.
What could i do for this? is there anyway to get over this allergy? I saw an allergist and he said there was nothing i can do for the mag sterate allergy, except to avoid it.
And for treating allergies, every single medication has magnesium sterate except benedryl liquid that makes me drowsy. But nothing really helped this allergy anyways.
Also, why would even hemp protein and even flax oil illicit an allergic reaction like that? Is there any tpes of omega 3 or protein supplementation that would be safe?
Preemptive thanks
K
