What are the signs that you need to go back to the doctor?

Five days ago I went to the doctor with wheezing and coughing up yellow gunk. He said I had bronchitis, sinustitis, and double ear infection. He gave me a Z-pak, hydromet, and afrin.


I took the last of the antibiotic today and my gunk coughing is worse. It's tinged with red blood and has turned green. smhair skull



Am I getting better? Or is this worse? rolleyes



If anyone's got an idea I'd love to hear it. confused



I'll go to the doctor again tomorrow if I need to.

If you finished your z pak, my guess is it was never bacterial, therefore the antibiotic wouldn't help. Or it wasn't strong enough. There are some nasty viruses going around, and that are sticking around for over a week. But it never hurts to go back to the doctor and ask for a CBC, to see if it is viral or bacterial? ]

Went to the doc....Walking pneumonia.

Triple Zpak, steriods, and decadron shot.

o joy I am so sorry for you. PLEASE REST, drink plenty of liquids take all your meds. You should rest and drink liquids until this is over if at all possible.

That's what I'm trying to do. Coughed up gunk has changed to pale yellow. Still running a fever, though. No work tomorrow- doctor's orders. I'm using a cool mist humidifier to moisten the air for me.

green is bad infection, yellow is getting better. drinking more fluids helps loosen the gunk. When it comes up white or clear you are ok. A little coloration in the morning in your spit is ok. it is from food. take care, keep warm, rest.

Geezee Joy, I sure hope your feeling better soon, I'm on my third round of antibotic for pneumonia since January, took a chest x-ray to find it and have it as two spots on my lung...
If your coughing is not improved soon then get back to your doctor, I'm doing Levaquin (antibotic) Nebulizer treatments and cepacol cough drops..You get well, Okay!

I finished my double tri-pak of z-pak on Friday. I've still got a little cough with clear gunk sometimes, but I'm feeling better.
Last night was the first night I didn't have to take Hydromet to get to sleep. I'm just taking it easy. I'm still weak, I give out going up my 7 steps to my house. The lungs aren't strong yet.

What makes all of this so bad is I had the same stuff back in November, had stomach surgery in December, and catch it again in Feburary. I'm having a hard time getting normal again.

O joy...i am so sorry for you. Even though I had a bad reaction to morphine when I had my total knee replacement, my lungs seem to be ok. They gave me a pneumonia shot when I was wheezing and my blood oxygenation went down. That is a white clip which they attach to your finger.

You must rest. You should borrow or rent some pleasant videos, have friends bring stuff (treats and happy food) over and relax. Keep your liquids up, hot or cool.
