Hi! Im sorry to hear your struggles. Perhaps a neurologist might help.
I have a crazy histamine storm that happens while I sleep, and no doctors can figure out what it going on or what treatment will moderate it.
So when I saw your post I had to respond.
I took a neuroadrenal exam (24 hour saliva test), and it showed an outrageous amount of histamine that surged in the nighttime.
I don't have obvious edema. I get sore spots on my head and the (top) back of my head will hurt. My main nighttime symptoms are suddenly waking from severe dry mouth, and hypnic jerking/twitching. I twitch more if I sleep with certain materials (polyester, down, etc) or if I take certain medications during the day. During the day I have virtually no problems.
I haven't tried Zyrtec, I'm trying to stick with supplements and avoidance. However, my doctor just gave me singulair, and told me to take it in the morning. I haven't done it yet. If I take anticholinergic meds at any time during the day, I parch more at night. I'm hoping singulair isn't anti-cholinergic.
I haven't been on this forum, I'm usually on the lyme disease one. A majority of folks on that forum have developed these intolerances/allergies/swelling issues as well.
What I've learned is how sleep issues cause brain inflammation. Infectious issues as well.
Sorry, I have few answers, just more to throw into the pot.
I hope it clears up for you soon!
Tracy
