Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has had joint pain as a symptom? I am on a detox diet right now that doesn't allow dairy, grain (other than rice), sugar, meat, chicken, and fish. I have noticed a huge difference in my congestion. It has been worse this year than ever before. It feels like my nose completely colapses and I can't move any air at all. The funny thing is that I broke down and had a small piece of cake and noticed that that night I had the bad congestion again as well as joint pain. I also started running a low grade fever 2 days into the detox diet. Thanks, KO

I'm not that familiar with the detox diet but I have a few friends who have tried it. They didn't specifically say anything about
the joint pain but they did mention that they felt like they had the flu for about
2 weeks to a month of doing it. From what I understand, your body is getting rid of the "bad" things and it has to compensate during that time so it might make your feel like you have the flu.

Thanks Sherry,
I'm just trying to make some sense of this.

I'm thinking its more of the detox side effect, not allergies. You basically put your body into shock by restricting what it is use to. So its reacting as it is learning a healthier way. Hope that is making sense.

I've read of a study that showed toxins held in body fat are released into the body when dieting enough to lose body fat. I've never lost that much weight fast enough to notice, but your "detox" diet could do it, I suppose. Sounds funny - detox diet causes increase in circulating toxins. :)

Just before i developed my urticaria i suffered agonising pain in my knees , imean it got silly i could hardly walk . I eventually got refered to orthopaedics and the specialist took MRI scans which came back as totally normal , he then shrugged his shoulders and said it could be a viral thing or allergy related . Shortly after i developed urticaria which is an allergy where your immune system goes beserk causing itching and pain and rashes etc .
I personally beleive the knee joint pain was the start of that allergy or urticaria , as since then a series of conditions have presented themselves , what i have learnt from the NHS is that medical understanding of allergies and the immune system is very limited , they love to throw anithistamines and pills and potions at a problem rather than explore the reasons behind them . Its cheaper .
