Miserable from Seasonal Allergies

The pollen count in my area has been in the 2000s or 3000s all week. Zyrtec-D made me all jittery AND drowsy so I stopped taking it. Sudafed has been okay for my congestion. But the worst parts right now are the sore throat and ears. I don't think I've ever had this issue with seasonal allergies before. I just feel so awful.

I'm sorry you are suffering :( We haven't had any pollen hit us yet here in MI but I am sure our time is coming!

It's smaking me right now. My blue porch is blue-green from all the yellow pollen on it. I'm in NE GA.

My allergist told me it's okay to take two regular zyrtecs a day (every 12 hrs) until the pollen calms down. Double check with your allergist if it's okay with you.

Me too...the tree pollen is off the charts (cedar, juniper, alder) right now and my throat is really sore & full of gunk, ears plugged & very itchy, runny & stuffy nose, and all this going on despite taking 30mg Claritin (my Allergist told me it was ok to take up to 40mg)... I was just about to log in and ask how do I tell if this sore throat is from allergies or a cold (I never get fevers when I'm sick, so that's not a good indicator for me)? I've had sore throats before from pollen allergies, but this time it is really painful...

I have never had sore throat and earaches with allergies before. But, I'm in Georgia so the pollen count is ridiculously high. Sudafed is no longer helping, so I've been congested all day. I have an allergist appointment next week--can't wait (lol)!

I hope the allergist can help you. Be prepared to have him/her push nasal sprays at you! It seems that all they ever do with my daughter anyway :)

I do empathise with you guys as I have also suffered with the itchy eyes, runny nose and headaches. I have an allergy to olive tree pollen and the trees were in full bloom about 3 weeks ago - my porch, my car, everything was covered in the yellow dust! I used to take citerizina and it worked in relieving the symptoms, but at the end of last year I started taking grapavin and this year I haven`t had ANY allergic reactions so far. Perhaps you should look into it.

Allergist prescribed me Singulair. Has anyone had success with it?

I told my allergist I was not keen on trying the steroidal nasal sprays, so he didn't push it! :)

Yep...been on Singulair in addition to my Zyrtec for 4-5ish years. It made a huge difference in my allergy symptoms.
