Throat clearing

Do other people with asthma experience excessive throat clearing?  It has been a problem since I was a teen, even before my asthma was so symptomatic.  I have tried treatments for post nasal drip and I have come to the conclusion I'm clearing lung secretions even though I do not have a cough.  Also, I've been diagnosed (via UGI xray) with acid reflux. Any opinions?

When I was on Aciphex and a very strict diet during prednisone induced gastritis my throat clearing went away for 2 months. I brought this up with my pulmonologist and allergist and they saw no relationship between the two, but I see a lot of people online do associate the throat clearing with acid reflux.
I went to a gastroenterologist for an EGD when I had gastritis. She said my acid reflux was mild and gave me a sample of all her PPIs and told me to call her with the one I liked best.
My bone density is borderline, so I try to avoid using PPIs all year round. For gerd I currently take Prilosec and Zantac, but a friend with gerd and asthma told me she is having her best breathing since she started Dexilant.
