Someone mind telling me what's wrong with my nose?

For the past few days (about 4) my nose has been itching like crazy on the inside (both nostrils) and so I scratch it by rubbing the outside and the more I do that the more I hurt myself I guess, and then it starts to bleed a little on the inside (from both nostrils). As the blood dries it gets itchy again and well it's basically a cycle. I haven't been able to sneeze at all for the past 4 days which is infuriating because it just makes my nose tickle >.< As far as I know, I am not allergic to anything (never have been) so why does my nose seem to be hating me now? :S Any help is appreciated, thanks.

btw I have never been prone to nose bleeds.

As Sherry advised, your ENT can look inside the nose and advise you.

For a little relief in the meantime, have you tried a saline spray? I prefer the pressurized ones with only saline, no additives. I also get relief from dry nostrils from Ayr gel, which I use at night when I'm in a dry environment, like now that the house heat is on. Don't use petroleum jelly, only water soluble products.

I get occasional sores in my nose too.
My doctor diagnosed it as a recurring cold sore.
He put my on Valtrex (generic) and it really helps clear it up.
