Hello. I'm new to this website so throw me a bone here (laugh out loud) anyways, lately i've been having a dry cough and a tight chest. i've also been feeling very weak or fatigued. i am an asthmatic with seasonal allergies however i'm not sure of that plays a part because i do use a preventative inhaler (Qvar). anyone have an idea what could be going on?

Have you tried using your rescue inhaler to see if you get relief from your cough? It is possible to have an asthma flare even though you're taking your preventative inhaler. You might have a cold or some other kind of upper respiratory event that is flaring your asthma. If your rescue inhaler relieves your symptoms you should call your DR and get checked out.

Hello SideEffect, as an Asthma sufferer myself I recently had some kind of respiratory virus which caused a bad flare of Asthma attacks. It may of been something similar that happened to you as the symptoms sound pretty much the same as mine. When I was admitted to hospital they gave me a different inhaler than the ones I am usually prescribed which seemed to of cured the problem, along with steroids. Best of luck.

Qvar doesn't stop the inflamation going on inside. It's just a broncodilator.
I take Advair and it does so much better for me.

thanks to everyone! it was a total flare up :). rescue inhaler did the trick.
