Mermorable ER visit? Let's hear it!

I had a terrible experience 3 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was at school and my arm suddenly became red and itchy, then I started to get hives on my arm and then my next arm then my stomach. I took some allergy pills and it was still getting worse so I left school and decided to go home but then while I was on the subway it became terrible ...my eyes started swelling extremely and so suddenly so I decided to go to the ER. By the time I got to the ER my whole entire body from head to toe was covered in hives and swollen, red and itchy and burning...it was horrible...pure torture. .even my scalp, my feet...everything. While I was waiting in the ER and scratching my skin terribly I started to lose my voice and then I felt my tongue swelling. I was so afraid because that was the first time I ever experienced such a horrible allergic reaction. I went to the nurse to tell her that my tongue is swelling and I'm feeling dizzy and next thing I knew I passed out. Next thing I knew ...i opened my eyes and my vision was blurred and I was surrounded by like 10 nurses but I couldn't really hear what they were saying or make out their faces and then I felt this immediate extreme pain like something ripping through my chest all the way through my back. It felt like I was being stabbed with an arrow from my chest to my back and at that moment so many quick memories went through my mind, and in my mind I said "nooo please" .
I saw a white light. After this i woke up with an IV in my arm and I was hooked to the heart machine. I guess they injected me with epinephrine and the IV had benadryl in it. When I woke up my voice was still hardly there and so they waited for the swelling to go down and my airways to open up and gave me 6 corticosteroid pills. That was my first Anaphylaxis experience and it's the closest I have ever been to death. Had I not gone to the ER...i would have probably been dead 3 years ago. When I went home from the hospital which was about 3 hours later, I immediately started getting hives allover and swelling up again. I had hives and swelling for a whole week afterwards and this is with the use of corticosteroids as well as Benadryl. I had another anaphylactic attack 2 weeks after and I have been tested for allergies. I have many allergies but until this day no one knows what caused anaphylaxis.
Ever since then I have been experiencing hives regularly, I've got eczema, after eating my throat swells (this happens several times a week) I am now experiencing Asthma symptoms which I suffer with daily and I am going to see a Doctor on Sunday. Nobody believes me when I talk about my suffering. People don't really seem to understand how serious allergies can be and how much some of us with severe allergies suffer. I experience an average of 2 to 3 allergic reactions per day and I'm so tired of it. I feel that it will be the cause of my death one day. I'm only 26 and I feel like I'm 80 and dying soon.

Luna12345 - Thank you for sharing your story. I agree with Alice that you need to find more help. There are answers to your difficulties and it is just a matter of finding them.
I cannot reccomend them as I have not had any experience there, but perhaps you would find some help at the National Jewish Health; I know they treat allegies.

So very sorry you both had bad Er visits, I too have had a few bad ER visits...ER's need to improve and maybe you need to ask about caring around a epi pen with you for emergencies...with extreme allergies you should always keep an epi pen and benadryl with you...Hopefully no more allergic reactions...seek out better care with a good allergy/asthma doctor...or pulmonary(lung) doctor...

I went to the ER once as I started having an asthma flair from the medrol dose pack, 9 hours later doctor comes into the room you have hyper inflated lungs, coughing and says "your having a asthma flair, we'll get you nebulizer treatments" he turns and walks out, two hours later I get the nebulizer treatment and go home if this had been a more serious flair I could've died after that much time passing...Husband was also furious and I went to my doctor and got home nebuliers treatments so I wouldn't ever have to go to the ER again...
There is another steriod I'm also allergic to, so basically I can only tolerate one steroid...which is very weird...

Oh yes, I keep it for emergency relief, might use it two or three times a year...yep, and when I had the pneumonia that broke 2 ribs, I had to use the nebulizer 6 maybe 8 times to get to feeling better. That pneumonia was in 2010...broken ribs you don't forget...

Well since my visit to the ER Thursday, nothing has changed. I'm getting some stuff done at home and then this afternoon probably going back to the ER and be admitted. I'm exhausted and tired of all of the coughing. I can't believe how much congestion a persons body can have. I've surely earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records! No joke!
