Hello! It’s my first time to post a concern so please bear with me.
I was wondering why I have itchy dry cough every 10 PM and 3 AM that lasted for an average of 30 minutes. I had colds and cough 3 weeks ago and I took over the counter medicines to treat them. Three days after taking the cough medicine, I expelled phlegm for two days. On the 6th day, I had an intense sneezing during the morning that I have to repeatedly blow my nose to relieve the itchiness so I continued with the cold medicine. At 10 PM that night (that’s my usual bed time) my throat itched so much that I have to cough when I lay down on my bed . It was a dry cough because I have no phlegm. I just can’t stop coughing so I have to sit up in order to breathe in between coughing. This went on for 20 to 30 minutes and happened again at 3 AM. When I got up at 5:30 am, I was sneezing again. So I just went on taking the meds.
The cold was gone on the following day but the coughing continues and it’s more than 3 weeks now! I have no difficulty in breathing, I am not congested, I have no fever, and cough during the day. I was never diagnosed with allergies but I did have reaction to some kind of fish because I got rashes and itchy skin after eating it. I took Citirizine and it worked.
Do you think this cough is caused by allergies?
