I have been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. I have coughing fits that last for minutes. My doctor says she cannot prescribe a hydrocodon cough mixture because I live in a drug infested area, and she can't substantiate prescribing 6 oz q30 days. The medicine allows me to be around people if I have to without coughing. People don't like when someone like me starts coughing that croupy cough. It allows me relief when I have coughing fits at night so I can sleep. She put me on Gabatapin. The side effects cause me to be uncoordinated, and my vision is so blurry I cannot see. It does not stop my cough. I looked this up and it seems to be the new "catch all" drug for symptoms that cannot be explained, or the extra work it takes to back up my cough medicine with good charting. Can anyone tell me if they have been prescribed this drug for chronic bronchitis
