A teacher, friend and I split two bottles of wine, and teacher and I each had one and a half shots of Anisette(?) (friend had a 4 hr drive, so he didn't partake in shots). Drank sparkling water the whole time as opposed to regular ice water, which I didn't realize until AFTER the fact that carbonated water doesn't help out w/ alcohol like regular does. Not much of a big drinker, maybe a beer or two a week. I'm a 24 y/o male, never drank in high school, only one or two drinks in undergrad, drank more in grad school but still for the most part prob not as much as my friends.
Generally I drink water with my alcohol so I can counteract some of the effects/not get hungover, but I forgot/didn't realize that 1. Wine has much higher alcohol content than beer 2. The carbonated water wasn't helping out at all. I am a musician, a brass player to be more exact, so anything weird going on with my lip(s) kind of freaks me out, naturally. Good news is that it wasn't like w/ Novocain; I had sensation in my lip and could move it around like normal. Woke up next morning and lip still felt a little "off" (and maybe a little dry/chapped), but I can play my instrument okay, and a couple other friends said that when they drink heavily, they experience numbness/weird stuff w/ their lips, as well. Just trying to figure out what's going on, I guess. It's been a few days and the feeling comes and goes; basically had a panic attack the other night over this, worrying that it would be stuck feeling this way forever. Then again, for all I know at this point I may be hallucinating a problem that doesn't exist, just by virtue of worrying so much.
Naturally, when I looked online for answers I found people freaking out that this sort of thing is a neurological disorder/nerve damage, so I seriously hope that's not the case...
