Hi everyone!
I tried searching all the past threads regarding this issue but a lot of the posts seem to have misinformation and hoping to get advice from the experts which are Alcie and Razzle. I just want to thank them for all their hard work and research. Hopefully they can help me as I am seriously struggling here.
I have been diagnosed with Sulphite Intolerance and at least finally have an answer for my random bursts of tachycardia, nausea etc I've been on antihistmines for the past 15 years but had to stop them recently for other medical problems associated with them. So I am forced to deal with my problem now after doctors misdiagnosing me or just telling me to do with my problem(aka take antihistmines, not actually find the source of my problem).. anyway,
After eliminating processed foods, I finally found relief to a certain degree, I have narrowed it all down to water. I have to avoid tap water because of all the other contaminants, so all I am left with is bottled water but even that I'm finding is a problem now and all the food I make is with it, rice for example.
I am not sure if its just a build up of Sulphites in my system that makes the reaction to bottle water seem so random as I'd have no problems with a certain bottle water then a few days later I'd get sick from drinking it, making me think it was the plastic leaching into the water(which im sure is a problem) or that the water wasn't safe to begin with, it was just cumulative and when i started drinking it, my sulphite load was low, so I was fine, and checked that water as safe, when it wasn't.
I tried reading the post forums but it seems a lot of members are confusing sulphate with sulphite and it's hard for me to know whether I should take the posts seriously as a lot of members say bottled water has sulphITE in them but it's unlisted, so I have no idea if they are confusing it with sulphate instead.
Thanks to Razzle and Alcie here on the forums, I know why my charcoal filter(coconut) gave me terrible reactions, worse than bottle water. I was on the floor struggling to breathe with a terrible fever that all came on immediately after drinking the filtered water.
I am in the process of looking at other filtration systems as a contact I know can replace the coconut carbon filter with coal charcoal instead. I am wondering if even that will be a problem?
I have no idea what to do and I'm at a loose end right now as I cannot drink anything or eat anything cooked with water without getting seriously ill!
Is there anyway to test bottled water for hidden sulphites or filter the water to remove sulphites? Maybe I can use hydrogen peroxide? I know Razzle said spraying B12 into the water binds to the sulphite but where I live(South Africa), I can't get my hands on a B12 spray that doesn't contain a load of other junk which makes me ill.
Sorry for the long post but I have no idea what to do when it comes to water. Is there anyone that can offer me advice?
