Well, yes and no. The sublingual drops are essentially the same as the shots in that the antingen is slowly increased to slowly build up tolerance, however, the drops are placed under the tongue and affect the immune system through specialized cells found there (see the website link for specifics). Many people who can't tolerate or don't respond from the shots are helped with the sublingual drops. The intention is to use the drops daily for 3-5 years until they are no longer needed.
I personally know people who have been helped with the drops, and was recenly tested and started the drops myself. I also know people on the shots who are helped only mildly with them, but they don't want to quit for fear their allergies will get worse.
