Zoegirl: May I ask how old are you? It sounds as if you were exposed to a new trigger or one you haven't been exposed to in years. Have you had an allergy test? Do you have a peak flow meter? This meter enables a person w/asthma to daily monitor his/her airway constriction. Asthmatics tend to have air trapping which causes the shortness of breath. Since I am on e-mail & cannot demonstrate for you, please call the American Lung Assoc to request info. This is a very simple technique which can help reduce the SOB. Also, if you use a MDI (puffer), make sure you have a holding chamber ... if not, you could lose up to 40% of your tx, therefore, not relieving your attack. Good luck!
