I have chronic sinusitus. I have been running fever of 99.5-100.8 for over two months now. My cat scan and ent say that they don't find any acute sinusits just chronic sinusitus and he thinks the fever is from something else. I had this problem several years ago and it landed me at an infectious disease doctor who found I had microplasma and treated me with Levaquin. My recent visit with an infectious disease doctor showed that my IgM is elevated. It is my understanding that it shows I have an acute infection but they have not found the origin yet. I have been tested for HIV, all hepatitus, lupus, RA, blood cultures, etc. with all negative results. I had allergy testing. The day after the testing I had three swollen bumps which the nurse advised me were all from mold. I have long suspected I was allergic to mold since my fever is always worse when the humidity is high. However the allergist informed me that since I did not have an immediate reaction I cannot be treated with allergy shots. He said that I am only irritated by mold not allergic. So he is done with me. My ENT told me this is incorrect. He said there are several different types of allergic reactions and yes I am allergic to mold. I just don't have the type of reaction that shots can treat. My ENT also told me that this long recurring fever in his opinion is not from my sinuses. I'm so confused. So my next step is back to the infectious disease doctor next week. Has anyone have a similiar problem?

Thanks but no tooth infection. I'm still running the fever. The infectious disease doctor I saw today is sending me for a nuclear scan of the whole body. I go to the same medical center for all the doctors I see so they all have the same records. My fever since Jan has been well documented. I'm thinking they think they are going to find some tumor or something. I'm not worried, I truly believe my problem in sinusitis. Have you ever heard of mucus plugs? My mucus is very thick and sticky and I think that I have some minute ones somewhere that is harboring bacteria.

Hello flchris,
I have a bit of similarity I guess you can say. I did a post earlier today about
my fevers. I have also been to a infectious specialist a couple times now. Everything turns out negative. My ENT believes it is allergies but as I stated on my post I have not been tested quite yet for allergies but believe this is what it is. He says yes, you can get a low grade fever with allergies, but I'm a skeptic and wanted to make sure others have the same symptoms I do and can this really be? I didn't do the allergy testing before because it is so costly and I don't have insurance. Have they mentioned going to a Rhemotologist to you yet? Apparently that is my next step if allergy testing comes up negative because then he assumes some kind of autoimmune disease. Just guesses though. Looking for answers like you. As I'm finding here regardless were not alone so that is a good feeling.
