Greetings! I ask for my son

My oldest son, 22, started having a strange thing happen to him....For the past 3 weeks he has been very itchy all over and when he scratches his skin turns red and raises up.  Has anyone ever heard of this or gone through this? If so, what in the world could this be?

It sounds like hives and he is having an allergic reaction to something. You (or him) needs to find the trigger or see an allergy specialist to help him. To help ease the discomfort though, you can try Benedryl capsules or Benedryl cream.

Thank you...He said he seems to really start itching when he starts to sweat and get hot at work. I was thinking about benedryl, I will go purchase some to see if this helps...Poor kid, he is miserable.

It can happen out of the blue like that? All of a sudden your allergic to something?

While I am not sure, this may simply be a releargic reaction to soemthing.  Recently I had to take a pain med, and became terribly itchy everywhere, even inside of my head.   I have also heard of shingles causing this to happen.  I would suggest going to an allergist in your area.

Yes allergies can happen at any time and anywhere. I used to be able to eat strawberries and hazel nuts like there was no tomorrow and then all of a sudden in my 30's I developed hives when I ate those things. It's best to have him see an allergy specialist to find the root cause of his hives. Hives are no fun that's for sure!
