Albuterol ?

Well, I take Alburerol in inhaler form and it does make me a little jittery at times. I'm a little sensitive to it.
I'm not sure if it will make your youngster hyper though. Someone else probably would know better than I.

The pharmacist said to make sure to give it to him several hours before bed in case it hypes him up. I am supposed to do it 2/day until the coughing subsides and then 1/day for 3 days after that.

I may not give it to him in the am. I hate to send him to preschool all hyped up on medicine. His teacher would choke me! We'll see how tonight goes.

He has always been a cougher. His doctors have never gone this route w/ treatment before. They said he responded well to the nebulizer but she decided to give him the liquid form. You can just imagine how fun it was to hold him down while he got his treatment. I'm assuming that is why she went w/ the liquid.

Depending on how long he is at school, I wouldn't wait too late in the day to give him his first dose.  If he is going to be running and playing at school, he is most likely going to start coughing, therefore, needing the Albuterol.  Maybe you could give it to him the first thing when he wakes up.

I agree with Sherry that it is probably a hit or miss thing as to whether or not it will make him hyper or not.  I am 56 years old and have had severe asthma for over five years. I was started out on Albuterol in my nebulizer.  I couldn't handle it.  It really gave me the shakes.  I would venture to guess, though, that the majority of asthma patients probably use Albuterol.  I use Xopenex in my nebulizer and now as an inhaler.

Glad your little one is doing better.  Evidently, it is not going to make him hyper.  That's great.
