Seasonal allergies no antihystemines

Hello, I am usually over on the arthritis forum but thought I would pop over here for an opinion.  I have largely given up on receiving treatment for my seasonal allergies because I can not tolerate antihystimes-none of them have tried everything from Benedryl to Allega.  I start seeing a new PCP next week and thought I would try again.

I have seen the singulair commercials and as its not an antihystemin I was thinking that might be a good place to start.  Have any of you had good results? Do you have side effects from it?

I do use Flonase which helps some for the nose but leaves me with chest congestion and coughing.

Anyway, thank you in advance for any help, advice, suggestions.

Are you interested in taking an herb that may help both your allergies and your arthritis? Nettle Leaves have anti-allergy properties, and also help joint pain, and also are good for Asthma/chest congestion! I've seen it work myself ~ had horrible joint pain from Lyme Disease and the Nettle Leaves cleared up the pain in only a few hours within my first dose (600mg), and helped reduce the congestion in my sinuses too.  The book I have suggests 1200mg/day for joint pain.

I took a product for a long time called D-Hist. It is a natural anti histamine decongestant made by the company orthomolecular. It helped me a lot. All the same benefits as something like claratin d but with no side effects. It has vit c, bromelain, quercitin, stinging nettles and n-acetly-cysteine in it. Not only did it help my allergy symptoms, but it helped make them less over time.

Thank you for the replies, I will look up the nettle leaves it sounds interesting. I am afaid the natural antihistamine won't work for me because I have a metabolic disorder that causes the side effects from the antihistamine it isn't normal drugh effects but thank you for the information.

Razzle,

I know this is off topic, but I'm wondering if the nettle leaves would help with the pain from fibromyalgia.  If so, do you buy it at a health food store?
