Hello everyone, new here. I have a couple of questions regarding my allergies/sinuses. I have had sinus problems my whole life, but as of the past 10 years or so I have developed swelling in my right cheek. I have visited the dentist many times thinking that it may have been my tooth, but there was never anything there to even hint at a tooth problem.
I recently started seeing an allergist and she took a CT scan of my sinuses. The scan showed no abnormal problems with my sinus cavities. This baffled me as I figured this test alone would have shown something going on.
She reccomended that I use a sinus rinse. I have now been using the sinus rinse for about a month 1/2 and almost instantly the swelling in my cheek went down (about 70%). I was very excited as I figured this was the cure for my swollen cheek. NOT TRUE! After about 3 weeks of use, I started to notice that the swelling was coming back. When I get this swelling there is usually lots of mucus in my sinuses, but I also have a hot feeling (muh like a fever) in the cheek area. Sometimes it swells so large that I can see it just by slightly looking down. I also sometimes have a lot of pain in this cheek.
This is VERY frustrating and to be honest, it has actually been a self-esteem killer as you can see the swelling and it just doesnt look right.
Now I've been staying at a friends house while he was out of town (house sitting) and I noticed that when I was staying there that my cheek had literally over night gone down to "normal" size; meaning it was the same size as the left cheek (which I have no problems with) and there was little drainage and NO fever or pain. This also seemed to have happened when I went to Vegas a few months back. I live in Texas so the air is very humid. In Vegas it was dry and I believe at my friends house (still in Texas) the air seemed to be dry as well.
What could be causing this? Im now back at my own place and my cheek literally over night has gone back to being swollen again and running with mucus, fever and pain.
Am I missing something here? Its so frustrating! Any help is greatly appreciated.
