After getting my sinus CT this AM I stopped and got a copy of the blood work my allergist ordered the other day. My IgE was 978 which according to the reference range chart is "very high level." The specific IgE tests like alder, cat, dog, etc were all absent or undetectable. I'm not sure what that means but am sure the allergist will explain it at my appointment next week. BTW, I was on prednisone and prednisone inhaler and nasal spray when this was taken.
Over 20 years ago I went through the skin testing for allergies. All were negative. At that time I don't believe IgE testing was available. I find it curious that I now have such an elevated marker indictating allergy. I know people can become allergic later in life but I can't help but believe this is somehow connected to my having Crohn's and developing lupus a year ago.
Anyone want to comment? I hope the allergist can get to the bottom of this because I continue to wheeze. My breathing is much improved but I get short of breath upon exertion.
