I have never been Dx with asthma, but this sinusitis/chest cold from hell feels horrible, in the manner that I can not breathe! I am considering making an appt with an allergy/asthma specialist so I can deal with it either way. Over the past couple of years, any bug at all ends in my chest and we all know that chest congestion is the last to leave, but each time I am finding it harder and harder to breathe deeply without being sick, or choking, or feeling faint and light headed. It hurts to get a deep breath, my horrid doc this week said "your lungs sound fine", when clearly I wasn't moving a lot of air. He's history anyway, the elitist techno-snob. So- what kinds of questions will the asthma doc have for me? What will they want to know, to determine if I do have asthma? Thanks!
Peace

Well there are tests. There is medical history. Or you can be really wierd and do what I do. I pull the normal kid way diagnoses as an adult. I get the flu, I cant get better. I told the doctor since I couldnt breathe she could kill me so I wouldnt have to suffer LOL! She listens to my breathing and says "Its not the flu. You have asthma" I look at her like shes nuts becuase she only listened to my breathing. Nebulizer treatment. More listen to breathing "You sound a lot better now, I am giving you a prescript
ion for Albertol. You need to do 2 puffs every 4 hours til you feel better." Dang it....it worked. Now, heres the funny thing....all 3 in my immediate famly of females are asthmatic. The men, dont. All the men and I have diabetes. When we get something, we'll share it with each other even if it isnt contagious LOL.
2 Weeks ago my primary doctor listend to my breathing "well you definately have asthma. how is your inhaler supply?" "Well, this one is almost gone doctor and I dont have anymore" "Ok, I need you to get one right away and while your here I'm ordering a nebulizer treatment so you will have some time to buy before you need the inhaler" "thanks dr."
I cant get rid of it dang it lol.
Anyhow, you can have allergy or sports asthma or both. I'm a both. While your at the specialist see if you can get an allergist to test your allergies.
