Hi all - I'm glad to have found this chat forum and already feel I'm among others who understand. My 14 yr old daughter was diagnosed with asthma at age 3. Past 6 years have been a roller coaster trying everything to get asthma under control; no luck yet. Long acting drugs (Advair, Symbicort) side effects included paranoia, nervousness, trouble sleeping. She's also very allergic -- immunology didn't work for her -- brought on severe attacks. We've done the holistic route, too, with vitamins and supplements, but no real improvement. New pulmonary doc put her on PERFOROMIST (formoterol), a drug NOT tested on kids and mainly used for adult COPD/asthmatics; she is already starting to feel "nervous" and "afraid" on this medicine, and I have call into doc. She is also awaiting insurance co approval for Xolair, which we hope will significantly cut allergies.
QUESTION: Has anyone (child preferably) used Perforomist and experienced any side effects? Any Xolair users out there that can report on whether it is working and any side effects?
Thanks,
Mary

Mary-
I am sorry to hear about
your daughter, but sounds like you are trying everything..> I am also curious about
xolair as I am also waiting for approval to start. I am on oral steroids (with every nasty side effect), xyflo, and advair 500/50. I don't have any side effects with the Advair, except by missing just 2 or 3 doses I end up on oxygen with severally impaired peak flows. So NO matter what I CAN'T come off it. Hope someone figures something out.
