Hello all,
I am usually in the Crohns forums but I have had asthma and hay fever longer than Crohn's. Back in 2006 The ENT doctor I saw did labwork to see about allergies prior to the scratch test. At that time was when I found out aht I had gotten a peanut allergy which I had never had before. I also have Oral allergy syndrome..yay...
I dont know how to make it more clear to my boyfriend and his 2 teen boys of how peanuts affect me. They know I cannot wash the knives they use for Pbutter etc so they do it but even last night his youngest while *cleaning up* he proceeded to get P butter all over the sink and I went to pick up the sponge to try and clean it a little at a time (lab work back then said I had a slight allergy to it the more I am exposed the worse it will get). I picked up the sponge and the side that was down on the sink had a layer of peanut butter on it...My boyfriend thinks I am being over dramatic about my asthma and throat itching just smelling it...
He was like stop it when I was scratching my arm (the arm of the hand i used to pick up the sponge). His son has Asperger's so idk if it is that that he doesnt "get" or if it is just not use to it. I have been wheezing all day since that happened this morning. I have used my inhaler mult time shad to load up on benadryl which knocked me out all afternoon. My chest hurts as does my throat.
What do I do to get them to understand the gravity of the situation?
How is it I am able to eat things like M&M s which on the pack say manuafactured where peanuts are used (which I think is partly why my boyfriend things it isnt as sever as it is) I have had my throat close up before when a woman I use to work with had pbutter on celery...
