An odd symptom

I posted this in the GERD section as well but wanted to get thoughts from those suffering from allergies, etc. Sorry about the long post in advance

about two weeks ago I noticed I have an odd symptom that happens to me on occasion. Sometimes when I eat I get a feeling of some mucus in my throat. It isn't a lot (unless I eat somethign with dairy in it which I have read causes mucus to thicken) and I can usually clear it up with either a very mild cough or a little clearing of the throat. It isn't like a constant lump feeling that I hear people talking about - it clearly feeling like a very small amount of mucus.

When I do have it, it starts about as soon as I start eating and is gone within 10-20 minutes after I stop eating. i seldom cough because of it - usually jsut clear my throat some and it goes away. . I can usually also feel the mucus going down my throat when I clear it up. BTW, I also have nasal congestion and at times a runny nose when this happens. I usually have to get up and go blow my nose when this happens as well but not always. I have noticed it is worse if I eat something warm or hot. The size of the meal doesn't matter but it seems the temperature of it does which seems odd. I can eat a spicy meal and I will get the runny nose but no sensation of mucus in my throat.

Since most of my family was over tonight for dinner I ask them if they experience the same thing and most of them say they experience it too - they didn't seem to give it another thought - said they are use to it.

I don't experience it any other time though - all the other times I feel great. It always goes away within 10-20 minutes. I am also a constant worrier so I read about this could be silent reflux and so it is all I focus on now so needless to say, I sit there and think about getting the mucus and sure enough it comes - the downside of being a worrier. confused.

One other thing - I have fairly constant nasal congestion due to my sinuses so it may be related to that - just don't know. Someone mentioned rhinitis due to eating but when I read about that it seems to fit except I don't always get the runny nose when I get the mucus but I do get congestion.

Does this sound like post nasal drip caused by eating or is it what they call silent reflux? BTW, I have read all the symptoms of silent reflux and this is the only one that remotely fits that disease. No throat issues, coughing, etc.

I don't believe it is an allergy. I tend to think it is the breaking up of congestion from chewing food and/or the temperature of the food.

I also wonder if it could be silent reflux but I have no other symptoms of that so I question that as well.

Since I am a worrier I tend to notice it now all the time although if I am busy doing something after I eat I don't notice it at all. Makes me wonder how real it really is or it is not near as much as I thnk. I have heard of people getting the sensation of something in their throat because of anxiety.
