Hi All. We all know the saying "Misery loves company." I already see threads here about how pollen allergies are affecting those in certain parts of the country. I myself just started Zyrtec 2 weeks ago due to consistent headaches, tearing eyes, along with throat and ear problems. But the differing point here is my weather station states that we have had no-very little activity for pollen, grass and weed yet - I live in the Northeast - Connecticut. I haven't had any changes in food or home situation. Don't know why I'm reacting this way.
Am I missing anything here in my thought process?

The reports for your state probably just state the most common forms of plants and trees that are blooming. You may have a sensitivity to the ones that aren't covered in the report. Also too, it could be that you are highly sensitive to even the smallest of traces to these things. You can also try using saline nose spray or Netti pots to clear your sinuses which in turn can help your throat and the post nasal drip. My daughter's allergist recommended her use a saline nose spray every time she came in from outside. This is to clear any allergens from her nose that makes her worse.

If your allergies continue to get worse, you can see your doctor about being placed on a prescription strength nasal spray (if you can tolerate them).

Hi Sherry: Thank you so much for replying to me. I actually have the prescription strength nasal spray as well as the Ocean spray. I don't know why I didn't think of it. But the last week or so has gotten much better for me so perhaps you are right about me just being super sensitive.

you also could have "picked up" a short-lived virus. allergies means that there is something wrong with our immune system. we are not supposed to be reacting to this stuff and therefore it is easy for us to pick up viruses, "cold", respiratory infections, etc.

try to be super healthy with your diet and exercise. do not exercise when you feel sick. drink a lot of liquids if you can tolerate them. this allows the phlemn to become looser and easier to cough up.
