I get nose bleeds alot, and for the longest time my family just thought it was because of the weather changes, but I went to the doctors bc I was afraid that it could be bc of high blood pressure, but the doctor had told me that I had a polyp in my right side of my nose. I went for treatment once but never went back bc it hurt. They had taken a long match like stick to burn the blood vessels out of my nose. It had left my nose very sore and feeling like I had blown my nose with a rough tissue for days. And the outside of my nose was all black and I was embarrassed, but I still get my nose bleeds and thats even more embarrassing. I wish I would have stuck with my treatments, but Im almost 20 now and I no longer have insurance thru my parents so I havent been able to go back to the doctors, but my breathing has gotten so bad that I can't wait to get insurance so I can get surgery to get this thing out of my nose!!!!!!! mad

I'm sorry you are suffering. I have never had polyps in my nose but I used to work with a lady that did. It made her miserable. She was always so stuffy but she didn't get the nose bleeds.

Are you working? Are you in the USA? My son is 19 and he is covered under our insurance until he is 24 unless he gets a job and makes more then $3000 a year. But he is also a full time student so he is covered regardless.

Wow that treatment plan sounds SO PRIMITIVE. I would goggle nose bleeds and polyps to see if that it the answer. Some of these doctors belong in the jungle!

I have heard the best thing to do is stuff toilet paper or tissue in your pocket at all times. When you start to nose bleed put the toilet paper in your gums and it should stop. My doctor's son gets them all the time.

If I was a full time student I would be covered under my dads insurance but I'm not going to school at the moment. I plan on going soon tho, and yes I carry tissues with me constantly. I keep some in my glovebox as well lol!

Here's a link that explains the Affordable Health Care Act's effect on family coverage. I'm not sure how your parent's insurance works, but you should be able to be covered regardless of whether or not you are in school.
