I've got upcoming sinus surgery and I'm reading that these are done with concentrated topical epinephrine to reduce swelling and bleeding. I don't tolerate injected local epi, get tachycardia (very rapid heartbeat). I'm also sulfite intolerant, and this stuff is always preserved with it.
It's scaring me silly. I plan to try to get up enough courage to call doc tomorrow. There is an alternative: oxymetazoline (used in lots of OTC sprays). Most docs simply don't believe me when I talk about sulfites, so I expect this doc won't believe me about epi either.
Did anyone out there who is epi-intolerant have sinus surgery? I searched the old posts and found nothing.
