I have not been able to eat Chicken since I was a kid. I'm 30 yrs old now. I also found out, probably during Thanksgiving at some point in time that I can not eat Turkey either. To add to this list of odd allergies shellfish of any kind will lead to anaphylactic shock which includes the following almost every time, (every time meaning accidental): swollen esophagus, very bad heart burn (or so it seems like heart burn), if I have any minor cuts in my mouth or lips they also become swollen, and minor discomfort in my stomach which only seems like minor discomfort because the heart burn is so bad. Also, because my throat becomes swollen I have a hard time swallowing anything, e.g. when I swallow water it is very painful once it passes through my esophagus.
I've also found that I can not eat raw Carrots & Celery (Celery is a close relative to Carrots) but cooked they are fine to eat. I can not eat Jack Fruit as well. Any other allergies that I may have is yet to be discovered.
So questions that you may ask: Have I been tested for food allergies? No... I have not. Why not? Well aside from being a pretty healthy, athletic guy I have had run ins with the hospital due to irregular heart beats. I was also shot in the face in 1995 with a .22 caliber sawed off rifle which by miracle, to the human eye, you would not be able to tell. I also had surgery on my achilles tendon when I was 12. Needless to say I'm very familiar with the hospital system and it's costs. That should not prevent me from going but right now I live in Germany working with the US Military but I'm not in Military. All hospital bills have to be paid for out of pocket before being compensated by my insurance which does not cover everything.
Anyways... I have a few issues, health wise, that I'm really starting to notice. One is I have a very hard time waking up in the morning. This is not a lazy, out of shape kind of feeling. I wake up but do not have the energy to get out of bed. You may say that this may be related to sleep apnea but I've read the symptoms and they don't seem to be related.
Well... if anyone has any enlightening comments related to why I may have these foods allergies please let me know. Or if you have the same issues please reply.
