prolonged pain in nose. could it be cancer? :(

hi guys! would like some advice here on my nose.

i'm a 25 year old girl who's generally healthy but have been suffering from what feels like a cut in my right nostril for more than a year. sometimes the pain goes away but most of the time it's there, though i generally can't feel it unless if i press it. anyway im not even sure if its a cut, it might be a sore. i believe the affected area is about 3/4 to 1/2 the size of a rice grain.

to assuage my fears of the worst (excessive googling led me to believe it might be nose cancer), two months ago i went to see an ENT specialist who poked a scope into my nose and reassured me that it was nothing more than a cut aggravated by my excessive nose rubbing (i love rubbing my nose but have really cut down since the "non-healing" cut).

my question is - should i get a second opinion? it hasnt healed even after the trip to the specialist, though i must add all that he prescibed were antihistamines and an anti-allergy spray. i just cant figure how can a cut/sore remain unhealed for such a long period. should i be worried? please help me, i'm a naturally paranoid person :( pls tell me it isnt cancer!

Sherry's right. Pain in the nose can even be a simple sinus infection. If you are truely that worried, a simple blood test of checking your white and red cells would show if you have cancer. However, it is very unlikely. Did you know even all that pain can come from an incoming pimple?

You might also try putting some otc antibacterial lotion on it, like bacitracin. Noses are full of bacteria and an open sore is a lovely place for them to grow.
