Everyday I wake up and it's very difficult to breathe through my nose.

Does anyone know why this happens? I use nasalcort before bed, I figured I would be good for a while but I woke up stuffed regardless.

Do you have seasonal allergies? Acid reflux? Acid reflux can cause stuffiness. One test you can do to find out if this is the cause is to sleep with your head elevated. If you wake up with minimal or no stuffiness, than it might be from that. It can also be from seasonal allergies. Is your bedroom a "safe" room? Meaning allergens are eliminated from the room such as carpet, curtains, stuffed animals, mattress and pillows encased in hypo-allergenic covers?

Sherry, I do have reflux. I will try sleeping elevated. My bedroom is definitely not allergen free and I sleep with my 2 dogs but this has been a problem my whole life no matter where I've lived. It's very frustrating.

What works best is if you take a wedge of some form and raise the head of your mattress to an incline. Don't just use more pillows under your head, your upper body should be elevated as well. If you feel this helps, it might be your reflux. Have you ever had allergy testing done? Have you always had dogs?

I wouldn't be surprised if it has to do with this reflux. It seems like it has been slightly better lately but last night, I couldn't stop clearing my throat. I have had dogs most of my life and the period when I didn't have dogs, I wasn't much better.

I had allergy testing about a year ago and I have no reactions except to histamines. I wanted to do further testing for food but the doctor said it was unnecessary.

Lots of good ideas posted!

It can also be winter dryness or allergies or sinus infections, etc. In winter I use Ayr nasal gel around the entrance to the nostrils, sometimes take Mucinex 12 hour, just the low dose.

Cortisone or other medicines can make things worse if taken regularly.
