Ok, I've been through a LOT with my health these past few years. Spent quite a lot of time on the crohn's forum (awesome group) and the RA forum (another awesome group) but I have to say that getting diagnosed with asthma has made such a huge impact in a positive way on my health. I really had no idea that I had it until I started wheezing and couldn't get rid of a cold a few years ago. On a rare occasion I would hear a whistling noise when I had my head on my pillow at night and thought it was coming from my sinuses.
Anyway, I had no idea I had asthma but I think it has been simmering for a long time. I thought you had to have coughing and a lot of wheezing and asthma attacks. I didn't really have any of that!
My doc changed me from Advail to symbicort and the symbicort didn't work. I've never had an asthma attack (thank god and I hope I never do) and the main problem was that my lung function was way down and I would get short of breath and VERY fatigued. I am back on Advair now and feeling like a champ. I've also been on a small dose of prednisone for the RA. I needed the inhaled steroids though. It's been like the icing on the cake to get me back to my old self. I was getting so depressed. After my colitis surgery I still wasn't feeling so great. I think this was the culprit all along.
Gonna go see an asthma specialist to make sure I get the best care.
Just wanted to tell my story. Good luck to y'all here in the asthma forum. I might drop in here now too! LOL.....
