Hi
I'm posting this about
my other half coz he's more than a little reticent to get help unless he's pushed
and I'm quite worried about
it...
His symptoms are that he regularly becomes breathless and sometimes has a very rattly chest because of it.
He does have 2 different inhalers to help with this - one that he takes when he's breathless and the other to take twice a day morning and evening.
He's being treated for asthma type symptoms although his tests didn't show asthma conclusively.
One problem is that he doesn't often remember to take the second inhaler.
Another problem is that the first inhaler doesn't always seem to help either so he takes an antihistamine tablet (the drowsy sort coz the newer non-drowsy sort don't help it).
I know that the fact he doesn't often take the second (I think steroid type ) inhaler isn't going to help his condition long-term.
But another symptom is that he often has itchy skin too so I wondering if the problem is actually an allergy???
Another concern is that he was a smoker for about
20 years although he gave up over 9 years ago (when I was pregnant with our first child
).
He had 3/4 bouts of bronchitis in the couple of years he was a smoker and the breathlessness started with a couple of years of him giving up and gradually got worse until he had to get help with it (coz I made him go!)
As he is an ex-smoker who was a heavy smoker for the last 6/7 years he was smoking I'm concerned about
possible serious conditions, such as emphysema.
I hope this doesn't sound too over-the-top but I'm worried about
his long-term health.
Very grateful for any help, advice or support given.
Cheers Gail
