Does this sound like Asthma? or Gerd??

Hi All,

Could I get your opinion.  I have been having what I thought was Acid Reflux now for about four months.  I don't have a "burning" sensation, but I have a discomfort in my chest...almost like something is stuck in my esphogus.  I don't have any of these issues at night while sleeping. 

I saw my GI Doc and after my endoscopy, he saw no signs of reflux and everything appears to be normal.  He said it may be a trachial thing since this runs along the esphogus and it is that that I may be feeling.  In the last month or so, I've also been having pain when I take a deep breath in my chest.  I am 50 years old and fit and have never had any asthma.  It does run in my family though.

I am questioning this since I really feel that this is acid reflux.  However, when I take PPI's (Prilosec or anything similiar), I feel worse and get bloated, etc and my doctor said that is because my problem is not acid..

I think that I have acid reflux and THAT is causing my lungs to become sensitive or something...I just don't know.  I'm waiting for the pulimory doctor to call me to set-up an appointment.

Anyone with any experience or symptoms similiar to mine out there?

Hi Joy...No hernia... But...does any of this sound like asthma?

My asthma doesn't feel like that. My hernia did feel like that.

For the time wait and see what your pulimony doc says, also rule out heart problems and maybe get an ekg, keep us poste and make a jounel of what is happening as it can help your doctors in a diagnosis, many well wishes and keep us posted as we do care.
