I have had sinus problem for a long time and even had a surgery which proved to be of no use . Recently doctors recommended me to have 1 tablet of Xyzal ( levocetirizine dihydrochloride) everyday and use Flixonase ( Fluticasone propionate ) nasal spray twice a day .

After using this everything goes on perfectly as I have used it for 6 months without a break . Now I have stopped using it but its hard for me to ignore these meds. as I cant concentrate properly on things .

I wanted to know if people have used these meds for a longer time ,I do think there is no problem since they are anti-alergic but still wanted to see comments by others

My sinus surgery didn't help either, but my deviated septum wasn't repaired. Maybe that would have helped some. My nasal passages are very small and swell up all the time. I get allergy shots and no longer have allergy symptoms, so it's not from that. It feels hard to breathe a lot of the time.

I don't get any relief at all from generic fluticasone propionate, but it's cheap and a lot of people do use it. Astepro, dries up my sinuses, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Expensive Veramyst - fluticasone furoate - works a little better for me than the generic f propionate. Sinus washing with Budesonide (must be ordered through doctor) is mildly helpful but expensive and not long-lasting. Washing with only saline clears things out but doesn't do anything for the swollen nasal passages.

I have used 12-hour Mucinex, guaifenesin, in the past and will try that again. It thins the mucus so it can be expelled the the cilia (little hairs) in the sinus cavity.

It often takes a couple of trials to find what works well enough. Consulting an ENT and also an allergist is the way to go to make sure nothing curable is being missed.

I have Deviated Nasal Septum ( LEFT ) and Bilateral concha bullosa. Have been trying meds. for for years but I don't think there is a permanent treatment for this . I even went for homyopathic medicines and it was ok till I ate them , after I left it problems start coming again . Same is case with alopathic medicines .
