I wake up coughing @4:15 every day

Help.. I am F, 43, hx of asthma as a kid, none as an adult. Just moved to Dallas Texas from Colorado. Every single morning at right around 4:15 i wake up coughing. It doesnt produce anything, its more like an itch or a tickle in my lungs that makes them feel like they are spasming and closing up. What could be causing it? Thank you for any feedback!

You have probably moved into an area that has something you're allergic too.

I wake up just about the same time myself. I live in NE GA so I know that the season is changing now where you live. I know that pecans and walnut trees are dripping sap right now and these make me cough with my asthma.

I agree, it's probably allergies. My "tickles" start around 8pm here in MI. Do you take any allergy or athma meds at the moment?

Wow you guys, I really appreciate your responses. Thank you so much! Im not taking any allergy meds but I think its time to start. Do you know of any OTC meds that wont make me feel yucky - I dont want to take the "stimulant" type, is there any that just blocks the allergies? Thank you again friends!

Clariten (not D) is a good allergy med to try or even Allegra (not D). The D's can make you a bit wired. These are otc btw.

Also, Zyrtec is a good stand by but this one can make you drowsy.

It's also very much ragweed season in Texas....Get into a doctor and also make sure your getting plenty of water, Texas is humid and dry...
I'm in Houston and we are very humid right now...Hope your feeling better soon...
