Can ringworm be in a straight line?

My son has a line all the way from his heel, up the back of his leg, and slightly passed the crease of his butt. No I am not labeling it as ringworm, but the skin looks like ringworm as in it is red and scaly and has stuck around for a while. I have only had one spot of ringworm one time, so I am not entirely sure. After about a month I lost hope that it was a scratch and would heal on its own, and have decided to treat it with lamisil, until I can get him into the doctor. Can anyone shed some light on what this might be while I wait?

Hi, we aren't doctors, there of we can't give medical advise. I'd suggest to get him to a doctor, if you are not able personally, perhaps another family member or a friend could take him. You would just need to do a permission slip saying date, the person name, kid's name, description of what they can do, experiation date, signature. Personally, as a mom, I would get him to the doctor one way or another if it were my kid. I wouldn't put on any cream/spray or give pills to him that I wasn't personally familar with and not in the kids name for rx's (perscriptions) But every person is different

I wasn't asking for medical advice, I was asking if anyone might know what it is. I know how to take my child to the doctor myself or having someone else do it. Thank you for the condescending tone but I was asking for information, not advice.

Consider Bartonella (can be transmitted by fleas on pets, esp. cats) or other infectious cause. Was your son bitten by any insects recently?
