I have dealt with allergies throughout my life. Outside environmentals such as Cats, Dogs, Feathers, Etc. bother me but not bad enough to have a dog for the last 9 years, however cats really make my eyes water, itch, and cause asthma related wheezing. I have asthma which is controlled by a single dose of Advair 50/250 every day. Recently (last 12 weeks) one of my eyes would swell up for no apparent reason. Nothing environmentally has changed in my household or life but I definitely started to have a major reaction to something. I can feel it coming on, it feels like a really itchy hive on your arm or leg, but it happens to be in the corner of my eye, above my eye lid, or below my eye lid and it happens on both sides. It never seems to happen on both sides at the same time. I started a daily regimen of Allegra 24 hour 180Mg which stopped the itching of the eyes and swelling, however, I don't want to take it the rest of my life. So the question is there any way to figure out what is causing the reaction? Or is there a natural antihistamine that I can take to stop the reaction? I tried not taking Allegra for a few days while switching to Benadryl before bed and it seemed to have subsided the swelling around my eyes until 2 days later, so now I'm back on Allegra. I feel like I'm losing control of something health related which is weighing on my mind. I take care of myself with exercise multiple times a week while trying to eat a protein enriched diet and keeping carbs & fats to a minimum, therefore I don't think it is food related. I tried stopping the antihistamine regimen and within 2-3 days one of my eyes would swell up again.
Any ideas or feedback would be great!
