I use the nasal wash too.
There are several sizes of bottles, so pick the salt packets for the same type of bottle. I like Neil-Med, a larger type.
Warning - don't use tap water unless you boil it. There have been documented cases or brain-eating ameba in city water even far north. I use distilled water.
I don't boil my water, just heat it 30 sec in microwave. Salt dissolves very easily in water. I use the whole packet and bottle-ful of water at a time, doing both sides.
The suggestion for saying "K" is a good one. Anything to pull your tongue up against the soft palate. I lean over the kitchen sink.
You may have sudden gushes of water coming out your nose if you bend over. Sometimes water stays in the maxillary sinuses a while. They open upward, so to clear them you have to bend over and hold the post a while.
Rinse the bottle and cap and stand upside down to drain. The dishwasher rack works well and the stuff is out of sight. I rinse with a little straight bleach at least once a week, then rinse again with water.
