I feel that the majority of 'common' problems we are seeing in the western world are down to the fact that people in general are not consuming enough good foods. From a personal perspective this seems to be what happend to me. As I got older I increasingly ate junk foods basically, this is actually when the hay fever started. I carried on eating a typical western diet, high in bad fats and pro-inflammatory foods with poor nutriton.
In Western Countries the ratio of omega 6 - omega 3 is anything from 20:1 - 50:1 and this should be balanced at 1:1 . If it is not you see a significant increase in many common diseases or problems such as: dyslexia, violence, depression, memory problems, weight gain, cancer, heart disease, eczema, allergies, inflammatory diseases, arthritis, diabetes and more...
At the beginning of the year I started taking Cod Liver Oil which contains Omega 3 DHA and EPA - Vitamin A - D and E . I eat large Salads everyday... atleast 10+ different fruits or vegetables and I cut out bad Fats and sugar out of my diet as much as I could. I make sure that I am not deficient in ANY nutrients at all. I actually do something called Calorie restriction With Optimal nutrition which also decreases inflammation. One wouldn't have to do CR to improve their symptoms tho, it mainly requires the reduction in pro-inflammatory foods and concentrating on eating more healthily and just doing a little research to understand how different foods effect the body.
I encourage you to either eat more fish or take some Fish Oil in the summer and Cod Liver Oil in other seasons of the year. They are more safe and don't have mercury in it. 80-90% of people in the western world are deficient in omega 3 essensial fatty acid. They either have very little in their blood or its undetectable. This is one of the main reasons we have the highest rates of allergies and especially things like Anxiety, Stress and other neurological problems.
Although supplementation will help, you would possibly need to make minor or big change to your diet in order to see an improvement. Most problems we face today can probably be prevented or reduced just by knowing and understanding how and what foods effect our health.

Hayfever & Dietary Supplements - http://bastyrcenter.org/content/view/312/&page=3
For the first time in many years I did not require any Hay Fever Allergy tablets. I'm very confident that majority of cases are caused or made worse by ones life style. As was the case with my allergy.
I also consume about 5-7 cups of Green tea per day which helps prevent allergies. Heres the info http://my.webmd.com/content/article/50/40527.htm
I hope that someone who reads this will implement the suggestions I made here. I'm sure it will have a benifical effect
NOTE: This information is also relevant to indoor allergies too
