Are allergies for life?

Hi guys! My condition improved after taking Benadryl and I appreciate the advices given by other members here.

I just have few questions if you would be so kind to answer. If I will be diagnosed with allergies will this mean that I have to be on daily medication for life? Or allergies will subside after sometime? If I already have symptoms of allergies, is there any way I can prevent it?

Yes, allergies are for life. The intensity of your allergic response will vary, however, with a lot of factors. The amount of exposure is critical: more pollen in the air or more time spent outside will make for a more severe allergy attack in people allergic to pollens. Your immune system's general health will also factor in. Most allergy symptoms can be managed so as to not interfere with your life most of the time.

Camie, I’ve had SEVERE environmental allergies all my life, pollen, dust, mold, etc. I’ve done a lot of research (and seen a ton of doctors), and to agree with the others, everything says allergies are forever, short of your body naturally changing (which could make them worse, better, add some, etc).

Medicines only treat the symptoms, not allergies themselves. For decades I was always taking something. And then several years ago I started taking Sudafed daily and Benadryl nightly every single day, for about five years, because my allergies were so bad (I’m a landscaper in Florida, so I’m out in pollen pretty much every day).

The side effects were killing me, but I was able to quit both when I started using essential oils last year. In addition to working better than everything else I’ve tried over the past 30 years (Sudafed, Benadryl, allergy shots, prescriptions, you name it), my allergies have actually lessened in intensity! So there is hope!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts guys! I really appreciate the info. I noticed that I got swollen lymph nodes in the neck and colds when I only have 3 to 4 hours sleep at night. I am aware that lack of sleep can weaken the immune system. The problem is, I have a 26 month-old son who wants his bottle of milk 2 to 3 hours after he goes to bed and he is very restless thus, I can't get enough sleep at night. I have to wake up early to cook breakfast and prepare for work.

Lately, the swollen lymph nodes last for 4 - 5 days and it will not subside until my nose starts to drip. I also suffer pain in the nasal cavity when I am exposed to dust for long and an earache everytime I swallow. I have no fever everytime this happens. I am planning to have an appointment with an EENT anytime this week. Am I right in consulting this specialist or do I have to see other doctor?

My allergies are absolutely brutal this time of year!

I take reactine on a daily basis for relief but it only helps a little.

A friend of mine tried Chinese acupuncture and he has seen a huge difference.

I have a similar story to Alcie's.

I once visited a family friend who had a rabbit. When I held the screwy wabbit I got all puffy and teary-eyed. I thought I was allergic to rabbits, and maybe I was back then.

A few years ago my Mom and sisters adopted rabbits, and I've never had a problem with them. I've never had an allergic reaction since. Unrelated to this issue, but she also has two small cats who are actually pushed around by the rabbits. I once had a kitty named Blueberry who would've made corpses of the rabbits very quickly.

So maybe, it's possible, that some allergies can go away. Maybe some are one-time things. I think, just as a guess, that the more stuff you're exposed to in the world when you're young, the less likely that you'll develop allergies.

you've tried an alternative technique for example eft?

thanks Poppie i know NAET but i prefer EFT, for me is most linear and simple but i can conferm that NAET is good tecnique
