Horrible pain after having tonsils and adenoid removed

Sorry if this isn't the correct forum, just wasn't sure which one to put under.

I'm a 33 year old female who has battled strep throat for 3 months and nothing I did made it better so they removed them.

Need to vent!

So had my tonsils out last week, doctor prescribed pain med that's not even made anymore. Mom and I went to 4 pharmacies right after I was released to no avail.

So they called in vicodin, which isn't even touching the pain because I have a high tolerance (spent 10 days last month in hospital getting duilodid every 3 hours), I'm in agony and they're saying they won't do anything stronger.

I am a realist, I know pain won't go completely away but I'd be okay with a 7 out of 10 on pain scale!

I'm getting so dehydrated because it kills to drink and I can't sleep. I just feel like crying. I took advil even though I'm not supposed to because I have ulcerative colitis. I just don't know what to do, I can't even call because I can barely speak 😡😡😡😷😷😷👎👎👎

Welcome to the forum, 2brits.

I had a bad case of paraflu a few weeks ago, sore throat, couldn't swallow saliva, got dehydrated. I went to the Emergency Room and got admitted for the dehydration. Along with the fluids in the IV I got a little dilaudid. You might try that. Make sure to tell them you can't swallow anything at all! They are likely to not give you all you wan't, but maybe you can get a little relief. Dehydration is serious.

The pain will end eventually.

If your doctor doesn't know what meds are no longer being made, maybe it's time to find a new doctor for the next problem.

When I was maybe 10, I had tonsils out. All I could eat was watermelon. They usually give you ice cream or popsicles, but those hurt too.
