Hi Everyone,
about
a month ago, I started experiencing pain in my sinuses. They were mostly on my left side, though I was also feeling sinus congestion on both sides of my face as well as fleeting moments of pain towards the back of my cheekbones, around my temple and along my upper jaw (and sometimes lower jaw). The pain was mainly of a throbbing nature, not a sharp or shooting pain (like when you have a bad cold and your sinuses are stuffed). I started taking Advil every 4-6 hours and it helped with the pain.
I thought it was just a slight cold but it lingered for 3 weeks and didn't go away so I went to see the doctor (which I don't do often). He diagnosed me right away with allergies and gave me a prescript
ion for nasal spray and also azithromycin (though he said I shouldn't take it unless I started to get a fever and feel very bad). The nasal spray helped the first day but after that it didn't really help. I'm not taking the azithromycin because I don't feel bad or have a fever. I continue to take Advil which does help but earlier this week it got very bad with the pain mainly on the left side of my face. A few days the throbbing pain turned into more of a sharp pain that would especially turn up early in the morning (like between 3-5 a.m.). It's much better now though I'm still having sinus congestion (on both sides of my face). I think it's better because I cleaned up my eating habits and am also taking my vitamins again (calcium, Vitamin D and E and Vitamin B complex). I also started taking cell salts (#6 and #8). The day I had really bad pain I took the recommended 8 doses for an acute situation (according to the bottle) and by the time I finished taking it, the pain had completely gone. I've continued to take it twice a day as the bottle directs so that might be helping also.
I'm 45 and this is the first time I've suffered from allergies, although both my dad and brother have had them all their lives (my brother is very allergic to pet hair). It's also very weird to me because I know that allergies usually involve a runny nose and/or runny eyes. I had none of these. I mostly had sinus congestion and then the pain on the left side of my face that felt like nerve pain. Does it make sense that this is allergies or might it be something else? I just want it to go away (obviously). I hate it that I'm still taking Advil every 6 hours, though it's much better than it was earlier this week.
