My kid has asthma?

My 5-year-old girl has a tickly bark-type cough, it's constant. She has had it before and when I took her to the doctor they gave her a blue inhaler. She was seen by the asthma nurse who was to be honest - pathetic! She had a cold and now again has bark coughing. I've been giving her antihistamine as advised to and have just started to use her pump again. The cough is worse at night. Could this be asthma already?

The dry, "barking" cough is characteristic of cough-variant asthma, which is most commonly diagnosed in children. The sooner she starts on asthma treatments, the sooner she'll be feeling better. Letting an asthma attack go without treatment can lead to serious breathing problems or pneumonia.
