Alright, so let me begin with this: I'm an otherwise healthy 18 year old male, living in Ohio, in a very rural area surrounded by a lot trees, plants, etc. (I live in a heavily wooded area for the most part)Basically a great deal of things that can usually be the cause for intense, seasonal allergies. I don't normally get allergies in the summer much at all, with the exception of a few times when I was a bit younger. But for the last two months, I've had this awful case of constant mucus/phlegm, especially in the morning, where I feel nauseated and gag sometimes, attempting to cough it up. A morning shower seems to help, but not always. The thing is, I'm constantly home, as I finished out high school, doing my work online in a virtual academy, I don't have a job at the moment either. I play guitar, do lessons with others over skype and am working on music related things, or at least that was my plan for this summer, but I've just felt awful. I cough up clear phlegm, nothing green really, sometimes with like a hair or two in it
The sensation that I have too much saliva(or phlegm) building up in the mouth and throat is constant at times, where I feel like i always need to hack it up, usually making me feel sick... I've tried Benadryl(which seems to somewhat help for like a few hours but idk honestly), Nasacort(it's been almost a week since using it every 24 hours, and I feel no different) and a few others to no avail. I did try Mucinex a few weeks back, with feeling no different the first day of using it, then the next morning feeling pretty much awful. However the day after, I felt almost completely better for a few days. I am considering trying it again, but wanted to check in here first. Has anyone else had this sort of thing? It's been going on for two months now, and only gotten worse I think. And I will mention that I did go to Hawaii for a week in early June, and actually felt better after being there for a few days, so I'm assuming it has to do with something here at home. I'm planning to go to see an allergist this week, but like I said, I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this post nasal drip stuff(I'm only guessing that's what I have) One last thing I'll mention, is that I consume little to no dairy, so I'm pretty much certain that it isn't the culprit. I also have a few cats inside, however, I've had them for ages, and been around cats in general for years and never experienced anything quite like this. Should I just try my best to swallow this stuff and see if that helps? I am wondering if I'm obsessing over it too much and the constant forceful coughing I've been doing has inflamed my throat, as it does feel a bit tight. All in all, It's gotten a serious grip on my life and it's honestly just been a living hell to say the least, so I'm just desperate for some relief at this point
