I am the mom of a 3 yr old boy who has severe allergies to milk and peanuts, and I am looking for anyone with experiences like ours. My son is very aware of his allergy and always asks me or his dad before eating something. He even pretends to read the labels on food packages to look for milk or peanuts in them.
We carry benadryl and an epi pen with him at all times, and he has a medical alert bracelet that he wears when we go places we've never been to before.
My concern is that as he is getting older, he is getting invited to parties and will be starting preschool in the fall. I have already notified the preschool and plan on going in to meet with them well before the session starts.
Last night he had hives on his arms b/c I touched him after serving ice cream to company! I am hoping beyond hope that he will outgrow the milk allergy, although he has had a blood test that showed he most likely will not.
How can I let my baby out into the world and be sure he will be safe? At his age, it is hard for him to know what is ok to eat and what is not. So far, he has pretty much only had family babysit, but soon I will have to let go and let him fly on his own. I am already stressing out about him starting preschool!
