My 2 year old son was recently diagnosed with allergies to dust, cats, dogs and dairy. The allergist precribed Nasonex for him. I am hesitant to give this to him. Anyone use this in a young child? Anyone have alternatives? Nasonex is a steroid and I have some concerns.

I'm surprised that your doc would prescribe this for him. It clearly states that it is not approved for children under 3. I would call up your son's pediatrician and explain your concerns to him. What sort of reactions does your son have to allergens?

It is approved for kids as young as two, but I'm very hesitant. I haven't talked with his pediatrician yet because his response to allergens appears to be almost unnoticable. His dairy reaction is anaphylaxis (we have an epi-pen), but the others seem not to bother him at all. So my question is should I give him medication for something the allergist says he has a problem with but that I have noticed no problems with?

My family and I use an alternative that has unique technology - it has helped our 14 month old daughter tremendously.
