Breakout of itchy spots and low-grade fever

My cousin is 10 years old. She went to school today and this evening she broke out with small and large red bumps, all over her body (except her scalp, so we don`t think it`s chicken pox). Her bumps also itch, but they are not festered. She also has a low-grade fever. For the past 1 1/2 weeks or so she was complaining of her stomach hurting (so we thought it was a stomach virus, but she never threw up). At that time she also ran a lowgrade fever. After two days her stomach stopped hurting and her fever went away. Then, she was complaining of sinus trouble, such as a running nose, etc. Then she started feeling better until now. Does my cousin have a disease (such as chicken pox, measles, etc.) or is she suffereing from an allergy?
p.s. she had a sleep over two nights ago at a friend`s house, so it may be an allergy, but that doesn`t explain the hurting stomach and nose trouble, does it?

My niece had chicken pox not too long ago. She had the vaccine so her case was extremely mild but she had eruption (small red blisters but very few). I think the vaccine prevented her from getting a severe case. Usually a high fever accompanies the measles and the spots are small to large but flat and splotchy. They also itch verrrrry bad. It sounds like she has something going on thats for sure but not allergies. Allergic reactions very rarely involve low grade fevers. Did her parents take her to the doctor?

Could be an Allergic Reaction to an food. You can run a low fever with Allergies. Does cousin have EXCEMA? or any known skin allergies or skin irritants? If no improvement see your doctor for right diagnoses. :-)

I wouldn't think the fever would have a connection, but if she had a sleep over could it be bites? I understand there is an increase of bed bug problems. Alot of top rated hotels have been infested.  Merri

did you ever find out what this was? the exact thing is happing around my house..my 20 month old is the only one that has the spots so far...they just started today...I would love some input!

The rest of the house has kinda had all the same symptoms but she is so far the only one with the bumps. Does my family have a disease (such as chicken pox, measles, etc.) or are we suffereing from an allergy, or virus of some sort?

Viral infections can cause hives (which may explain the itchy red bumps) and all of the other symptoms. Also, she may be allergic to some medication given to help with the other symptoms. I would talk with her pediatrician and see what s/he says.
