Recommendations for air purifiers?

I have really bad allergies to almost everything - dust, mold, cockroaches, pets (I have two dogs), everything seasonal, etc...  I'm looking to buy just one air filter for my bedroom, which is a pretty small room, and I'm overwhelmed by the options out there.  I found one good website that compares and rates all the different air filters, but the prices range from about $200 to almost $2000.  Does anyone have a good recommendation?  I want something small and somewhat portable, so I can move it into my livingroom at times.

I'm not sure if we are allowed to endorse a product or not.  I don't sell this product.  For the past couple of years I have used this Ionic Pro in my bedroom and it is so much more effective and efficient than any other clean air machine I have used.  I ordered mine off of tv one night.  I had four of the smaller hepa filter machines spread out all over the house.  Those filters cost $18.99 each, after the cost of the machines.  They really need to replaced on a monthly basis.  I couldn't afford to replace four of them that often.  I finally just threw all of those machines away.

The Ionic Pro has a cylinder that you pull out and wash.  It's really easy.  A light comes on to let you know when it needs to be washed.  The machine is so quiet.  I have severe asthma and I would never buy another clean air machine that had an actual filter that had to be replaced.  I highly recommend the Ionic Pro.

Thanks Red, that's good to know.  I would just hate to see other people make the expensive mistake I did by buying the machines with the filters that have to be replaced.  The Ionic Pro works so much better also.

  I researched some before we purchased our air purifier (which I wrote about in the other thread that's here).  Anyway, we bought one that uses a hepa filter, and then we bought a "VOC replacement filter" that supposedly has a longer life than changing the regular filter...  Anyway, it is a hepa filter and the machine is by Amaircare.  You can find them on google.  about the ozone,  I was concerned about that which is why I decided to go with an air purifier as opposed to an ionizer.  I read testimonies by some folks with asthma/allergies who got worse by using the ionic breeze ionizer.  However, I know the amount of ozone put out by an ionizer varies with each company. 

  The salesman we purchased from said that ozone isn't good to mess with and that all electronic things put out a certain amount of ozone already, so why add to it by getting a machine that also did the same?  However, I also know of a local health store that seem to have done their research also, and they sell ionizers that they rave about and have very little if any ozone giving off the machines.

  So really, I think that said, the best is to contact different companies by phone or e-mail aobut their products and then see.

  The reason we bought the amaircare is because I used to be friends with a gal who has had significant issues with allergies and she is a holistic nutritionist also, and she had tested the air purifiers by this company and highly recommends them.
